I听have over 20 years鈥� experience in adult acute/critical care and community nursing.听After training as an adult nurse in Edinburgh听from听1997,听I听moved to London and听worked in critical care and听theatres听at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.听On returning home I worked for many years in general intensive care and postoperative recovery听at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, undertaking听adult nurse specialist training in 2003.听In 2011, I听graduated听from QMU as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse听鈥� Health Visitor听and have听held caseloads听across various areas within NHS Lothian, including areas of听significant听deprivation.听
I have had a long-standing interest in nurse education and was part of the clinical education team establishing training for the new recovery department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh from 2003.听In 2015 I became a Specialist Practice Supervisor for the SCPHN听PGDip听programme at QMU, supporting听clinical education for听trainee health visitors.听I was involved in the development and delivery of NHS Lothian鈥檚 post-registration preceptorship programme for newly qualified听SCPHNs.
In January 2021 I was delighted to join听the QMU听undergraduate nursing programme听team.听My teaching interests include biosciences, neurobiology and social development, and public health.听听
